My mother died from lung cancer on August 3, 2004.
She was an extraordinary mother of four who always put her family
first. I lost her just as I became a mother for the first time.
A Breath Away: Daughters
Remember Mothers Lost to Smoking was written
to remember her – and other mothers like her who are no longer
with us because of smoking. I profiled a total of 19 women, each
remembered by a surviving daughter or loved one.
By paying tribute to these
women through the memories of their daughters, I hope A
Breath Away motivates
those who are trying to quit smoking to succeed, and for young
people to think twice before they consider lighting up.
