In the Fall of 1991, Anne headed to the Arabian Gulf to work as a news reporter for Bahrain’s only English-language daily, The Gulf Daily News. Sponsored by the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations, Anne was the first American to work at the British-run daily. She covered the rebuilding efforts in neighboring Kuwait following the Gulf War, as well as key visits by Western diplomats and business leaders. Her general-interest stories included features on several notable residents. Her final article was an in-depth look at the history of the American missionary movement in Bahrain and the impact these efforts had on bringing medical and educational advances to the region.
